YOUR BUSINESS WAS SUPPOSED TO GIVE YOU FREEDOM...
...So Why Do You Always Feel Behind?
You became a freelancer because you wanted flexibility. Control. The freedom to build work around your life instead of squeezing your life around work.
Then the clients arrived.
So did the emails, revisions, invoices, admin, marketing, school runs, appointments, household jobs, and an increasingly threatening to-do list that appears to reproduce overnight.
You are busy all day, but the important work still gets pushed to tomorrow. Your calendar looks manageable until real life happens. Routines work beautifully for three days and then disappear the moment a client sends an “urgent little request.”
Eventually, you begin to wonder whether you are disorganised, undisciplined, or simply terrible at time management.
You aren’t.
You're simply be trying to run a very real life using a productivity system built for an imaginary one.

HOW I CAN HELP
We’ll Turn “I Have Too Much to Do” Into a Plan You Can Actually Follow
Private productivity coaching gives us the time and space to untangle the whole picture rather than treating each missed task as a separate emergency.
Together, we can:
- Identify what is consuming your time and attention
- Separate genuine priorities from tasks that merely feel urgent
- Create space for client work, business development, admin and life outside work
- Build a weekly rhythm around your fixed commitments and available energy
- Give every task a clear home instead of carrying it around in your head
- Reduce the daily decisions that leave you mentally exhausted before the important work begins
- Develop routines that feel supportive, not punitive
- Create a practical plan for the weeks when life refuses to cooperate
The goal is not to fill every gap in your calendar with another productive activity.
The goal is to help you know what matters now, what comes next, and what you can stop feeling guilty about today.

MEET YOUR COACH
I built these systems because I needed them.
I’m Lauren Kirsty Gouws, a senior copywriter, freelancer, business owner, podcast host, and mother of two girls.
Over the past decade, I have worked with 10,000+ clients across almost 20,000 projects. I have managed overlapping deadlines, complicated briefs, last-minute revisions, family commitments, creative exhaustion, and the occasional day when opening my laptop felt like the first act of a psychological thriller.
I have tried the colour-coded schedules. I have written heroic to-do lists. I have planned weeks that would have required a second Lauren and a minor alteration to the laws of time.
The systems I now use were not developed inside a business textbook. They were built, tested, and refined inside a working freelance business and a full family life.
That matters because I am not going to hand you a rigid timetable and tell you to become better at obeying it.
We will look at the life and business you actually have, identify where the friction is coming from, and create a system you can realistically keep using.
THE FOUNDATIONS OF MY APPROACH
Five systems designed for real freelance life
My coaching is built around five practical systems developed through 11+ years of managing client work, deadlines, business admin, and everyday life. Each one solves a different problem: managing projects, planning your time, switching focus, processing new demands, and rebuilding your schedule when life knocks it sideways.
THE FOCUS WINDOW SYSTEM
A flexible way to structure your days around fixed commitments, priorities, energy, and real capacity. Instead of forcing your life into a rigid hourly schedule, you group related tasks into focused windows while leaving breathing room for the unexpected.
Plan around real life, not a perfect routine.
The C.R.A.F.T Method
A repeatable process for managing every client project from enquiry to completion without losing important details or relying on memory. It gives each brief, deadline, deliverable, revision, payment, and final follow-up a clear place in the process.
From “you’re hired” to signed off.
THE N.E.T. PROCESS
A quick process for dealing with every new task, request, reminder, or idea: Note it, Evaluate it, and Tackle it. It stops incoming demands from living in your head or hijacking whatever you are already doing.
Note. Evaluate. Tackle.
THE FOCUS SWITCH TECHNIQUE
A simple 5-step reset for moving between tasks without carrying the last one into the next. Close the current loop, clear the leftover mental noise, and enter your next Focus Window ready to give it your full attention.
Close. Step Away. Release. Reset. Re-enter.
THE SHIFT METHOD
A recovery process for the moments when illness, emergencies, client changes, or everyday chaos destroy your carefully planned schedule. Stabilise the situation, work out what matters now, and rebuild the plan around what can realistically happen next.
When life shifts your schedule, SHIFT it back into place.
WHAT WE’LL WORK ON TOGETHER
Your Productivity System Will Be Built Around You.
There is no identical curriculum that every coaching client must follow. We will focus on the areas creating the most pressure in your life and business.
Depending on what you need, our work may include:
01. Identifying Your Core Life Needs
Before we plan your tasks, we need to understand what your life is asking from you. We will identify the areas that need regular attention, which may include your work, finances, family, relationships, health, home, rest, creativity and personal goals. This helps us build a week that supports the whole person running the business, rather than treating everything outside work as an interruption.
02. Making Time for What Matters
Having several priorities does not mean giving every one of them an identical block of time every day. We will decide which needs require daily attention, which need protected weekly space, and what a realistic baseline looks like during demanding seasons. The aim is to stop important parts of your life from repeatedly falling off the calendar simply because client work demands attention first.
03. Starting With Your Fixed Commitments
School runs, meetings, appointments, caregiving responsibilities and non-negotiable deadlines are not planning failures. They are the shape of your real week. We will place those commitments first, calculate what remains and plan from the time you genuinely have. That one shift can end the exhausting habit of assigning twelve hours of work to a six-hour day.
04. Designing a Calm Calendar and Weekly Workflow
We will create a weekly rhythm that tells you when to focus, when to handle admin, when to market your business and when to stop working. Your calendar should guide you without becoming another demanding manager. It needs enough structure to protect your priorities and enough flexibility to survive a normal amount of chaos.
05. Managing Tasks Without an Endless To-Do List
A giant to-do list gives every task the same visual importance, from “finish client strategy” to “buy toothpaste.” No wonder your brain wants to resign. We will create a clearer task system that separates projects, next actions, recurring responsibilities, future ideas and tasks that do not need your attention yet. You will be able to see what needs doing without having to stare at everything you could possibly do.
06. Establishing Routines You Actually Enjoy
A useful routine should reduce effort, not become a daily test of character. We will explore routines that suit your energy, responsibilities and personality. That may include a realistic morning start, a focused workday opening, a proper closing routine, weekly planning or a simpler way to reset after an unpredictable day. You do not need to become a different person. The routine needs to work for the person you already are.
07. Reducing Decision Fatigue
Freelancers make hundreds of tiny decisions every day: what to work on, when to reply, which task is most important, whether to accept the project, where to save the file and when the work is good enough to send. We will identify the decisions that can be made once and supported by a repeatable rule, template, routine or process. The less energy you spend repeatedly deciding the same things, the more attention you keep for the work that actually requires you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long does private coaching last?
That depends on how much support you need. You can book a single coaching session to work through one specific challenge, a two-session package for additional planning and follow-up, or work with me over three or six months for deeper, ongoing support. We’ll choose the option that makes the most sense for your goals, schedule, and budget.
I’m already overwhelmed. How will I find time for coaching?
You don’t need to “get organised” before we begin. That is exactly what I’m here to help you with. Our sessions are designed to reduce the pressure on your plate by identifying what is taking up your time, what can be simplified, and what needs a better system. You’ll leave with clear, realistic next steps that fit into your actual life and workload.
Will I need to use specific software or productivity tools?
No. I’m not here to force you into Notion, Asana, or another complicated system that becomes one more thing to manage. We’ll work with tools you already use wherever possible, whether that is a digital task manager, your calendar, a spreadsheet, or a paper planner. If a different tool could genuinely make your life easier, I’ll recommend one and help you use it effectively.
What results can I realistically expect?
The goal is to help you feel calmer, clearer, and more in control of your time and business. Depending on what we work on, this may include a more manageable calendar, clearer priorities, stronger client boundaries, smoother project workflows, fewer forgotten tasks, and less late-night catch-up work. You won’t receive a rigid routine to follow. You’ll build a practical system that works with your responsibilities, energy, and working style.
